Abstract

This presentation will provide participants into the insights that parents of children with varying disabilities experience and the impact this has on the pediatric therapy process. Strategies help improve parents participation and engagement in the therapy process will be reviewed to help improve functional outcomes of pediatric clients by improving home follow through.

 

BiographyElisabeth Stuewe MS, OTR/L has been a practicing pediatric therapist for 30 years. She has worked in numerous clinical settings including outpatient clinics, acute care, NICU, and school based settings. She is also the parent of a special needs child with numerous clinical diagnosis including epilepsy. She is also an active member of the board of the Epilepsy Foundation of Arizona. She is also an active community volunteer with Hopekids of AZ and Make a wish of AZ. She is currently a school based practitioner.
