Motivational Interviewing Training

 

Mary Dillon holds a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and brings extensive counseling experience from inpatient, community outpatient, and addiction treatment settings, as well as private practice management.

 

She began training professionals in Motivational Interviewing (MI) in 2002, launching her first MI training business in New Mexico. Since then, she has trained thousands of healthcare and service providers across the state, including members of the New Mexico Medical Society, New Mexico Dental Association, American Cancer Society, and Blue Cross/Blue Shield.

 

In 2008, Mary transitioned into her first full-time MI role with a national disease management company, where she developed, implemented, and evaluated both live and virtual MI trainings for more than 75 clinical and non-clinical staff. That same year, she joined the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT)—an international organization dedicated to advancing quality MI practice and training.

 

From 2015 to 2018, Mary served as a full-time MI Trainer with Arizona Complete Health (formerly Cenpatico Integrated Care), facilitating more than 300 MI training sessions for thousands of professionals across behavioral health, physical health, criminal justice, oral health, addiction treatment, and leadership sectors. She also developed MI coding and self-assessment tools and provided individualized MI coaching in diverse settings—from behavioral health centers to methadone clinics.

Since 2018, Mary has owned and operated Motivational Interviewing Learning Exchange, LLC, working full-time as an MI trainer, consultant, and coach. She provides customized MI training, coaching, and performance improvement services for providers in behavioral health, physical health, substance use, criminal justice, oral health, and tobacco cessation fields.
