Dr. Pagpatan will discuss the importance of professional development, advocacy and leadership through the lens of the OTP student transitioning into professional practice by presenting resources, data and practical approaches in the importance of continued self-investment, embracing the skills of digital inward and outward advocacy as OTP ambassadors, and the vital importance of maximizing the OT footprint through positive nonconforming actions.

Biography

Vikram Pagpatan, EdD, OTR/L, BCP, CLA, FAOTA (he/him) is an OTP healthcare practitioner, leader and researcher. As an OTA/OT academician, Dr. Pagpatan is an Assistant Professor and Admissions Coordinator at the State University of New York-Downstate Campus MSOT/PP-OTD program as well as teaches several OTA/MOT courses at neighboring institutions and programs. As a clinician, Dr. Pagpatan's clinical practice includes pediatric and adult focused assistive technology services through operating as the owner of VPAT Solutions LLC, an evaluation and consultation-oriented company based in the New York City area. As a practicing leader and advocate, Dr. Pagpatan is an AOTA Board Director, has published several textbooks and workbooks and is an avid advocate on the importance of state and national OTP memberships.
