Abstract
This session explores the impact of cultural dynamics on pediatric occupational therapy, focusing on how cultural awareness enhances therapeutic outcomes and family engagement. Participants will gain skills necessary for becoming global practitioners, including cultural sensitivity, adaptability, and global health awareness. The session will also present effective telehealth strategies for supporting and educating families in diverse settings, featuring insights from successful programs in Kenya. Additionally, attendees will learn about global outreach opportunities, such as the Helping Hands Global Outreach program, and their role in professional growth and development. Through interactive activities and case studies, participants will apply these concepts to practice, fostering a culturally responsive approach to pediatric occupational therapy.

 

Biography
Dr. Briana "Bri" Bonner is passionate about enriching lives through education, strategic intervention, and advocacy. As a pediatric occupational therapist, she focuses on holistic development and well-being for families with children with disabilities, fostering growth and empowerment. As the co-founder of the Network for Inclusion and Advocacy, a non-profit organization in Botswana and the USA (pending status), Dr. Bonner is committed to creating inclusive communities. She leads the "Helping Hands Global Initiative", organizing international mission trips to drive positive change globally. Recognized for her dynamic approach to education, consultation, and coaching, both in the classroom and on social media (@DrBriTheOT), she expertly blends evidence-based practices with real-world applications. Driven by a deep commitment to working with vulnerable populations, Dr. Bonner aims to enhance the quality of life for all. Outside of her professional endeavors, she enjoys music, dance, and activities that bring joy, and is always enthusiastic about connecting and collaborating with others.
