AOTF: Advancing the Science of Occupational Therapy Through the Power of Philanthropy

Learner Outcomes

  1. How is AOTF uniquely building new, evidence-based knowledge for occupational therapy practice and strengthening the future workforce?
  2. What are the resources available to occupational therapists through AOTF?
  3. How can OTs, OTAs and OT students engage and support the philanthropic mission of AOTF?

Abstract

For almost 60 years AOTF has been one of the only national organizations committed to advancing the science of occupational therapy to support people’s full participation in meaningful life activities. Throughour mission activities AOTF is investing in the  generation of new knowledge through scientific study, providing research resources to our profession and offering scholarship assistance for OT and OTA students. All of this work is vital to strengthening the future of occupational therapy, to raising its visibility, and improving the delivery of care. Importantly, all AOTF mission activities are only made possible thanks to the philanthropic support from our community of donors and volunteers.

This presentation will cover three areas of the AOTF mission: how we are building new, in-demand evidence through early-stage research grants, how we are bolstering research capacity and disseminating new knowledge, and what resources we offer for occupational therapists and students across the lifespan of their careers. The presentation will also highlight the opportunities for everyone to engage with AOTF.

The second century of OT will be defined by evidence-based practice and AOTF is the only national nonprofit dedicated to meeting the demands of researchers, clinicians, clients, caregivers, payers and policymakers. AOTF is a leader in the work to grow, enhance and strengthen the future of OT and we look forward to you joining us in this mission.
