The 2024 Fall Conference Begins In:

Experiental Learning in Level II Fieldwork

Learner Outcomes

  1. Bringing awareness to OTs on how to use holistic modalities in practice
  2. Learning how alternative modalities can be beneficial for mental health patients

AbstractThis presentation focuses on the essential components of experiential learning for occupational therapy (OT) students during Level II Fieldwork. It aims to equip students with the necessary skills, knowledge, and professional behaviors to excel in diverse clinical settings. Key objectives include understanding and applying clinical reasoning, refining practical OT interventions and assessments, and demonstrating professional behaviors such as ethical conduct and effective communication. The presentation also emphasizes the development of client-centered treatment plans, accurate documentation, adaptability, and problem-solving skills. Participants will engage in interactive activities, including case studies, roleplaying, and hands-on demonstrations, to enhance their learning experience. Additionally, the importance of self-reflection and cultural competence in OT practice will be highlighted, providing students with strategies for continuous professional development and culturally sensitive care. By achieving these objectives, students will be better prepared to navigate the complexities of clinical environments and deliver high-quality, client-centered care. This comprehensive approach to experiential learning ensures that OT students are well-equipped to meet the demands of their fieldwork and transition smoothly into professional practice.
