Malawi: Mission Work alongside Passion Center for Children

  1.  Participate in a slide presentation of 4 recent mission trips to Malawi, Africa alongside the Passion Center for Children
  2.  Learn how to be impactful in mission work and how to get involved in this international endeavor

Abstract

This seminar wiill provide you with a visual presentation of 4 years of university collaboration of Occupational Therapy with Passion Center for Children in Malawi, Africa.  Mission work deeply impacts a student's physical, mental and emotional learning. The Photovoice methodology was utilized for the 2024 trip and students will be present to express the impact this trip had on their lives. Discussions will center on future trips and how to get involved.

 

Biography

Patricia Steffen-Sanchez, MS, OTR/L, BCP has been a pediatric OT for 47 years. She operated a multidisciplinary pediatric practice in CA for 28 years.  She currently has been on faculty for Midwestern University/AZ.  After hearing about Passion Center for Children from a former student, Patricia began mission work in Malawi starting in 2018.  Since that time, she has instructed over 20 Occupational Therapy students while in Malawi.
